How do you keep a child motivated and interested in learning?

Hi there, I’m an inexperienced teacher and I’m teaching beginner English to kids who are 6 and 8 years old. The first few days they were quite interested in learning but now they’re starting look bored and tired, not paying attention. Even games are not keeping them interested. What are some general ways for keeping a child active in the classroom? Answers will be much appreciated.
What are some ways to create a variety of activities? I’m supposed to teach only in English, but they’re only beginners so I have to be simple with them too.
I appreciate all your answers! I think I need to clarify something though, it’s an English as a Foreign language lesson, not literature. Sorry.. Im finding it pretty tough, as it’s hard to communicate with them, using only English but I’m supposed to. I use gestures and all to help communicate.
