You should never allow criticism or harsh remarks as excuses for you to stop trying or waver in your quest for success; remember that the only person who can stop you from achieving success is yourself.

Only then will you be set free from the doldrums of life and move on to greener pastures, grazing on the fruits of your hard earned labor. I think the last personal skill that is important is the ability to look fear in the eye and shrug it off. Whether it may be taking a risk, going to another country to work, quitting your job, learning a new talent or just letting loose and giving your 2 cents, fear is the one trait that is holding people back in the world today. We are ruled by fear – don’t be one of them. Laugh at its face, drop ice cubes down its shirt and you will conquer all. With these personal skills, you can be a success too if you want. Personality is the key denominator; use it to your advantage.

The fact is, you can define success in a varied number of ways, simply because the definition of success varies from one person to the next. The people who succeed are individuals, but they belong to a collective of human beings who have walked the walk and definitely can talk the talk. How can you measure success? There is no particular measurement of success, because there are no measurement units for success, is there? There is no longer a need to size up competition and ruminate about life – it has given all it can and now is the time to waft with the waves to that final destination.

Of course there are other ways to measure success, one very common and easy way of measuring success is through materialistic means. This can be in the form of money they’ve made, material acquisitions (like property), or even awards won in their lives. These are some of the ways that a population will measure their success with. Whatever the case, our successes in life can be measured in either the tangible or intangible, and while some tangible rewards may seem less noble than the intangible, spiritual ones, we all tend to seek solace in whatever we can achieve out of life. Even a pat on the back, a hand shake, an awards ceremony or an elegant letter – these are some things that life and our careers can reward us with.

Success comes in many forms and each person has a different way of how they have made their mark in life, in their careers and in the things that they treasure most to them. How they want to display it to the world and what feelings these measures of success give them. Look into your soul and you will know when you have hit the mark you may or may not have set yourself to achieve.

8. The use of hot water accounts for 15 percent of overall energy use. You can bring down your water heating cost by lowering the water heaters thermostat setting. Each 10F reduction can save between 3 and 5 percent in energy costs. Insulate your hot water heater and water pipes. Consider installing a timer that shuts the water heater off whenyour sleeping.

9. Install storm windows, if you have single-pane windows or consider replacing them with Energy Star qualified thermopane windows. Storm windows can trim back heat loss by 25 to 50 percent, and storm windows with a low-e coating that reflect heat back into the room during the winter months can save even more energy. Be sure to look for the Energy Star label if you want the big savings. Energy Star qualified windows reduce heating and cooling bills by an average of $345, but could be higher in colder or hotter than average climates, compared to uncoated, single-pane windows. If you can’t afford new windows rightt now, tape plastic to the inside of the window frames. You can get a kit at just about any hardware store.

10. Finally, when replacing appliances, light bulbs, electronics, or heating and cooling systems, you can slash your energy bills by up to 30 percent ($600 per year) with Energy Star tagged products. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in place of incandescent bulbs.
