How to Find the Perfect Camping Spot

If you want to get away from your daily routines of work, school, sleep and eat then camping is a great choice. It provides the chance to experience nature to an extent that most people just can’t do everyday.

How to choose the perfect camping location?
Before looking for the ideal camp site, you must first find a campground that meets your needs. Many campgrounds now have internet websites, which makes this task much easier. You can check out the campsites through the website before actually going there, allowing you to make an educated decision about your choice of campground.
Just remember that much like the pictures in a restaurant’s menu card, the campsites will always look nicer on “film” than they are when you see them in person.

The first step in choosing your campsite is to decide on the type of camping you want to do. Some campgrounds offer primitive camping, but when you see primitive on the sign, what does that mean?
When you visit a campground that’s labeled primitive, it’s critical to pack all of your essential supplies. This covers your shelter, any necessary gear, plus additional items you may need as well as the basic items such as a first aid kit. Primitive campsites are usually deep in the wilderness where you will not find electricity, water, showers, or even pit toilets.

On the other extreme, you’ll find campgrounds that offer hookups for water, waste, and electric – all in a beautiful setting. Some campgrounds have super-upgraded their amenities and will even have a spa!

Most campgrounds fall somewhere in between these two extremes. When deciding on a private park for camping, chances are that you will have access to all the services you could possibly need. Many offer washers and dryers, shopping areas and arcades and they are glad to accommodate customers planning on an extended stay. The majority of private parks will also organize activities like bingo games, or have fun and/or competitive activities for children.

Campground fees
The fee to stay at a private park will be higher than renting a spot at a public campground. State park campgrounds can have any level of amenities, from primitive tent campgrounds to near-luxury resorts. Some of them offer electric, swimming pools, warm showers, toilet facilities, laundry rooms, areas for the children to play in, guided tours, etc.
Most state and national forest parks only offer the basics. Most of these will have pit toilets, picnic areas and fire rings. Prices on these campground are in the right price range for everyone, sometimes even free.

Make your campground reservations early during good weather.
Note that when the weather is favorable, people don’t want to drive hours and hours for the campground they might have planned on. Instead, they will settle early at a campground closer to them so they can enjoy the rest of the day. If you want a premium spot you have to come early and get lucky.
Do you want a site near the pool and playground? That will be a wonderful convenience for the children but at the same time it could be a noisy location with a lot of foot traffic to contend with. This is also the case with sites in close proximity to bathrooms and showers. You may find foot traffic around your tent 24 hours a day!

Would you rather be in the middle of commotion and excitement, or do you desire a calm and tranquil atmosphere? Since camping has so much to offer, you should have no problem finding the campground that matches you and your family’s needs.
