Find Out How To Save By Renting A Dorset Holiday Cottage
I latterly got home from a 2 week self catering holiday in Dorset. We had decided that rather than going to the beaches of the Costa Del Sol, we would save some money, take a chance with the UK’s weather conditions and drive to the glorious sands of Bournemouth. It would seem that I was not the only person because Bournemouth beach was packed and with every thing the area has on provide, it is no surprise.
Bournemouth and Poole are really fascinating regions of Dorset to visit but the region has so much more to offer up. There were a broad range of things to do and places to go to. My choice of the different tourist sights would have to be Monkey World, Tower Park and Bournemouth beach. I had many a great time at all these sites and would extremely commend them to people I meet.
This was one of the grounds that I resolved that my kinsfolk and I would pay for a self catering holiday in a holiday cottage in Dorset instead of a hotel. This meant we could rest in a house where we found we were comfy and available to do what we wished. The holiday cottage was as well a pleasant base from where we could travel to the local holidaymaker sights easy. We were blessed enough that our holiday cottage was placed under 30minutes away from all of these attractions.
The holiday cottage we remained in was close to a local pub which we often attended, where we created a friendship with the landlord. We found out from the pub landlord that holiday cottages in Dorset were very common in the county and that he often met holidaymakers like us that rented them. If you are considering of going on trip to Dorset then I would recommend staying in a cottage in Dorset. The welcome you will encounter from the locals is wonderful, it is a great deal cheaper than a trip abroad and you will go home feeling loosened and refreshened.
Adventure holidays in Wales for something a bit different this summer
Climbing, abseiling and other outdoor activities are becoming ever more and more popular, and with the credit crunch getting in the way of our usual holidays abroad maybe now is the time to embrace the great outdoors and try something a bit more challenging this summer. The UK, and especially Wales, has loads of amazing locations where you can go and try out every kind of exciting and fun experience. So whether you’re an experienced adventurer or a first-time explorer, you’re sure to find something to suit you.
Wales has some of the most stunning scenery in the UK, and is the perfect setting for activity holidays, with its famous mountains and craggy coastlines for climbing, beautiful rolling hills and valleys for walking holidays and long, sandy beaches with clear seas for water sports. There is an adventure waiting for everyone whatever your level of experience, whether you’re looking for the adrenalin rush of scaling the famous Welsh mountains or just want to check out the views.
Or if you’re looking for something a bit different, Wales is the original birthplace of ‘coasteering’, a wild combination of scrambling, climbing, traversing, cliff jumping and swimming that was first developed on the Pembrokeshire coast. All the activities are available to people of all levels of experience and are supervised by a trained instructor, so even if you’ve never done more than climb up the stairs at home, you’ll still be able to give it a go.
There is a huge range of different types of accommodation for holidaymakers across the country, from hotels to self catering flats and holiday cottages in the countryside. So whatever type of new experience you’re looking for and whatever activities you want to try, a short break in Wales could be the answer for an exciting, different and affordable holiday this summer.
Why Wales is the perfect holiday destination in the credit crunch
More and more people are choosing not to holiday abroad this year, but are instead choosing to stay at home and avoid the cost and stress of travelling. The credit crunch has affected a lot of people and many are finding themselves short of money to spend on luxuries such as holidays. The recession combined with the current strength of the euro against the pound, means it’s really not surprising that the number of UK holidaymakers booking their holidays at traditionally popular European destinations like Spain and Portugal has plummeted.
In fact, according to figures released by the European Commission 48 per cent of Europeans are intending to spend their holidays in their own countries this year, that’s five per cent higher than in 2008. Those who are still planning to travel abroad are spending a lot more time shopping around for the cheapest deals, and booking in advance on the internet to save on cost.
The credit crunch may be bad news for tourism in Spain, but for UK destinations such as Wales it could be just the boost they’ve been waiting for. Not only are many UK holidaymakers looking closer to home for this year’s destination, but the weak pound could bring in more visitors from mainland Europe as well.
Wales is the perfect destination in the UK with a huge variety of things to see and do and places to stay, from hotels to camping to rented flats and holiday cottages. The scenery is stunning, from the world famous mountains and valleys to the beautiful coastline which has been awarded no less than 43 blue flag awards for water quality, cleanliness and safety. There is no shortage of options for walking, exploring or activity holidays, including abseiling, water sports and ‘coasteering’ right along the stunning coast. So if you’re looking for a UK destination this summer whether you’re planning a family holiday, romantic getaway or a short break Wales could be the choice for you.
