Coach Your Downline Recruits and Teach Them How to Succeed with Internet Marketing

Many people in affiliate programs seem to think they can stop working once the sale is made. If you’re in an affiliate program, you only succeed when your Downline succeeds. The initial sale is not the end of your involvement, rather it is the beginning of a longer process of coaching and team-building.

People joining affiliate programs tend to have big goals and dreams, but sometimes they fail anyway.

Reasons Why People Fail to Become Successful Affiliates:

There are three main reasons why people fail to adapt to change, especially technological change:

  1. Lack of Skills
  2. Lack of Knowledge
  3. Fear

Adopt the “Coach” Role & Mindset:

If you adopt the mindset of a “Coach,” you can dramatically improve your Downline’s performance along all three lines.

When someone joins an affiliate program there is generally a fairly big learning curve to overcome – new product(s) such as the just-released MaxPro System, new technology, and virtual relationships, all of which are especially problematic if your new recruit is a novice in the world of internet marketing (or marketing in general).  Internet marketing, like any industry, has its own set of jargon, and the affiliate program will have its own set of tools and techniques to master.

If you ignore your new recruits, they can get very frustrated in a very short time due to information overload.  If you allow your new recruits to become overly frustrated, they are likely to drop out and never become productive team members.

Your bottom line will be a lot bigger if you invest some time with your new Downline team members, coaching and mentoring them.  Help them learn about the products, as well as the various resources and techical support available to them.

You’ll also need to spend time helping them learn how to market in this new Web 2.0 internet world of Blogs and Social Networks, which are unfamiliar to many.

You can take a passive stance, and hope that new recruits will contact you when they need help – or, you can be more proactive, and contact them to make sure that they have the knowledge and skills that they need to perform the tasks being asked of them.  Your initiative and personal contact will go a long way toward minimizing the fear, and especially, the “buyer’s remorse” that they might be feeling as they start this new venture.

Coaching is easier than you might think – you just need a positive attitude and a desire to build up your team members coupled with proactive behaviors on your part.  You will gain substantially from this small investment of your time and your commitment to be a Coach for your Downline team members.

One very good starting point for securing all the rest of the understanding about internet marketing that they’ll need is to have them sign up for the Online Success for Beginners classes.

A Health Instructor in the Largest Private High School in the Local Community Inspires Her Pupils to Learn About the Significance of Alcohol Dependency Signs in Today’s Society

Miss Benning was a health instructor at the most underfinanced co-ed high school in the region. Even though she had been teaching for only three of four years, she had already gained a reputation as a person with educational techniques that inspired and encouraged students to think and to learn.

As an illustration, one Wednesday morning she addressed her students and announced the following: “For the next four or five days we are going to learn about some basic alcoholism facts from a more broad-based standpoint and we are also going to learn about some of the best known signs of alcoholism from a less general and more detailed viewpoint.”

“Not all of these alcoholism signs will categorically show that someone with a drinking problem is an alcohol dependent individual, but the more signs that an individual manifests, the stronger the probability that he or she is an alcoholic.”

Miss Benning then informed the members in the class that each person would be held responsible for researching four alcohol addiction signs and then presenting his or her conclusions to the class via a seven minute oral presentation.

The Pupils are Thrilled About Giving A Relatively Long Presentation to Their Fellow Pupils About The Signs of Alcoholism

After learning about the diverse signs of alcoholism for a number of days, the time had come for the individual presentations. It was instantaneously apparent that the students in her class were excited about the subject because the material that they presented was first class. To say that Miss Benning was pleasantly surprised with the excitement manifested by her pupils concerning this subject was an understatement.

The day after all of the students completed their presentations, Miss Benning passed out a piece of paper with a list of all the alcoholism signs that were presented and discussed in class and in the presentations. Miss Benning then asked the pupils in her classroom to study the list and rank the top nine alcohol dependency signs that were most indicative of alcohol addiction. After roughly ten minutes, Miss Benning collected the pieces of paper and informed her pupils that after she evaluates the results, she will reveal her findings the next school day.

There was a real buzz by the students while they were leaving Miss Benning’s class. One could swear that her pupils couldn’t wait for the next day to arrive so that they could find out the outcome of their in-class research.

The Pupils Match Their Answers Against the Assessments From A Council of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Professionals

When the next school day arrived, Miss Benning gave out a sheet of paper that listed the top five alcohol dependency signs according to the pupils’ rankings. To the right of these results, she included another column that was labeled “experts’ response.” She then explained to the pupils in her class that the numbers in the new column she added stood for the findings that were generated by a panel of alcohol addiction specialists.

Miss Benning asked the pupils in her class to look over the information she handed out and then to raise their hand if they had any concerns, issues, or questions. Within 20 or 30 seconds, virtually every pupil in the class raised her or his hand. It was clear to see that the students had some questions, concerns, or issues about their results versus the answers given by the professionals. As an illustration, just about every person in the classroom had an issue with the highest ranked answer given by the specialists, specifically, “Do you feel very sick when you stop drinking?”

The Foremost Difference Between Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse is the Physical Dependency That is Experienced With Alcohol Addiction and Not With Alcohol Abuse

Miss Benning then informed the students in her classroom why this answer was the most accurate indicator of alcohol dependency. She pointed out that the foremost difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency is the physical addiction that is experienced with alcoholism and not with alcohol abuse.

In essence this means that when an individual who is alcohol dependent suddenly quits drinking, he or she will suffer through alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Miss Benning then explained to the students in her classroom that alcohol withdrawal symptoms are responses by the brain and by the body to the lack of alcohol to which they had become accustomed. Stated more precisely, alcohol withdrawal symptoms are signals from the brain and from the body telling a person who is addicted to alcohol that something is very misaligned and needs to be rectified. These messages consist of a number of uncomfortable, dangerous, and painful withdrawal symptoms that can potentially result in a person’s death if the proper treatment is not immediately obtained.

Miss Benning then listed the multitude of alcohol withdrawal symptoms that can be experienced when a person who is alcohol dependent suddenly stops drinking.

The point that Miss Benning tried to stress was this: an alcohol abuser can experience almost any and every one of the alcohol dependency signs that the students had ranked, but the one symptom or sign that few, if any, alcohol abusers ever experience is alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

To articulate this as plainly as possible, Miss Benning stressed the point that alcohol abusers, unlike individuals who are addicted to alcohol, are not alcohol dependent and as a result, when they stop drinking, they almost never suffer from alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

The Pupils Think They Have Uncovered A Discrepancy With the Findings From The Group of Substance Abuse Specialists

The pupils also disagreed with the second ranked answer given by the substance abuse authorities, specifically, “Have you ever had a drink the first thing in the morning to get rid of a hangover or to steady your nerves?”

Miss Benning informed her students that this sign does not necessarily signify that the problem is alcohol dependency, but that it does underline the need that people who are alcohol dependent have to drink in order to avoid alcohol withdrawals.

After Miss Benning explained the significance of alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the life of the alcohol addicted person, the pupils started to appreciate the essential difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction.

To add a sense of closure to the topic, Miss Benning asked the pupils in her classroom to take out a piece of paper and answer the following question: “if every individual who is an alcoholic knew about every one of the alcohol withdrawal symptoms and alcohol addiction signs we have studied, what percentage of them do you think would get alcohol dependency rehabilitation?”

After roughly five or six minutes, Miss Benning asked for the pupils’ answers. While many pupils reasoned that about 80 to 90 percent of alcohol dependent individuals would seek alcohol addiction treatment if they knew about the facts related to alcohol dependency signs and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, most of the pupils believed that this number would not be less than 60 percent.

The Pupils Were Surprised to Find Out That Only 25% of Alcohol Addicted People in the U.S. Seek Alcohol Dependency Rehabilitation

To the shock of most of the pupils, Miss Benning proclaimed that according to the research literature, only 25% of the individuals who are addicted to alcohol in the United States get alcoholism rehab. This astonished most of the students because they reasoned that first-hand knowledge of the appalling facts and statistics correlated with alcoholism would motivate most of the alcoholics to seek alcohol addiction treatment.

Miss Benning then stated that people who are alcohol dependent not only need alcohol on a daily basis in order to function but they also need alcohol on an everyday basis so they can steer clear of possible alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Obviously, the alcoholic’s need to drink on a daily basis is stronger than facts or logic. Undeniably, because the need for alcohol is “reality” to the person who is addicted to alcohol, this is a demanding issue that is difficult to negate.

The Students are Excited to Learn About Alcohol Dependency Signs and Symptoms in Today’s Society

A few minutes later the bell rang, meaning that the end of class had arrived. Based on the buzz manifested by the students when they were leaving the classroom, Miss Benning realized that she had inspired and stimulated the pupils in her classroom to stop and think about a vital health and social problem that exists in our culture.

The Responsibility Choice: None, Some or Total Ownership

The fact that you are reading this says that you, an influential leader – coach, salesperson, business owner, entrepreneur, or team leader – are likely NOT in the category of ‘no ownership,’ meaning you don’t take any responsibility for the outcomes of your choices. That leaves two options: ‘Some ownership’ or ‘total ownership.’

Most of us have been conditioned to take only “some ownership” over our performance. You may notice that whenever a controversial political, economic or social issue crops up, people are quick to blame everyone else. But remember, fault is a low intelligence concept.

In the 1950’s, Earl Nightingale said, “To be successful, we must look at what everybody else is doing and consider doing the opposite.” Observe people who blame others. Look at people who blame the economy. Look at those who blame their product, their circumstances, their family, their history, their shortcomings, the weather, Britney Spears and everything else they can think up, for poor results.

Consider doing the opposite. Consider becoming one of the minority who really do choose to take total ownership over their results. You will be given the riches that the many who only take “some ownership” will never find. Be willing to own ALL your consequences, good and bad. Great sales people sell by consciously designing their messages and when they don’t succeed, they change objection and rejection into a great chance to redesign their message. They own the result.

Be willing to own ALL the results of your team, as a leader, great or awful. Great leaders look across the hall when things go well and tell their team “you did it” and look inside when things go poorly and tell themselves “I’m responsible for it.” They own the result, especially when things don’t go well. Bottom line, as my good friend Hal Elrod (also a contributor to my book Cutting Edge Sales) taught me, to the degree that you take responsibility for everything in your life, you will be able to improve anything in your life.

Great leaders settle for nothing less than total responsibility.

In self promotion always remember it’s about you, not your products

Every week I read at least 20 blogs that have the word “Shameless Self Promotion” in them when the writers mention themselves or products. It is really strange to see how many people out there use those words.  I get blog posts daily related to self promotion and the majority of them are start with the words “a bit of Shameless Self Promotion”.

You might think that the title “Shameless Self Promotion” appears once in a while here and there on a blog or a website. The majority of blogs or internet posts use the word “Shameless”, WOW.  This inspired me to write a self help or self improvement book on how to market and self yourself.

Are you afraid of promoting yourself ?Are you afraid that others will not like you because you are selling or marketing or promoting? What’s going on?  For starters, most of these internet entries come from people that have great content on their websites and blogs, so promote it, otherwise people will never find out and benefit from that content.

Maybe I can change your mind on what Self Promotion is and why it is never shameless.  You see, self promotion is an impulse that started with survival, with a primal instinct of self preservation.  Soon after it turned into a social skill that also required helping others to survive and strive in society in order to have more people helping each other and, yes, helping you.Self preservation started it all and now we have self promotion.

Now, you also have to remember that if you have a good product or a good service and people will benefit from it there is no shame in promoting it.  After all, you are providing a solution. This single thing is the premise of this post.  –If you provide value you need to promote it- This value can be with a product or service and it can also be form your advice, expertise, stories or blog posts.  It is what I call “Unselfish Self Promotion”.

Unselfish Self Promotion means that you provide value first. You always provide some kind of “worth” to sociaty or readers or strangers.  You provide it in content, products, advice and friendship. If you are unselfish and provide value you are using self promotion, or “unselfish self promotion”.

Leadership: The Ultimate Skill. The Set of Steps to Develop your unique Leadership

Leadership: GLOBAL NEED FOR THIS CENTURY.

First of all, What’s the motivation to become a leader?

The answer is not really easy, but it is not difficult either. In fact, the world today is much more interconnected than a hundred years ago, and the trends show that it will be even more interconnected in the next 25 years.

What does it mean? In simple terms: team work, group work and any other initiatives will be daily activities, and certainly not only restricted to your work but to your life as well. So big are the implications that leaders will be asked for to give support to the teams achieve their goals.

The odds are you’re going to be in more than one team at the same time, but with different jobs on each of the groups.

Amazing Leaders

Won’t you agree that Martin Luther King Jr,Nelson Mandela,Elizabeth the First have anything in common?

That’s easy:They were great leaders.

Through centuries we’ve been delighted to look at the lives of great leaders to be above their peers and move countries towards great achievements, to stand out over the worst circumstances.

Awesome leaders have two qualities in common, if you check Warren Bennis in his work “Learning to Lead”:

  1. A leader knows that leaders are made and not born.
  2. A leader keeps growing and learning every single day.

In Bennis’ book, you can find a couple of steps to become a leader:

  1. Get the people you want to lead, to “buy” your vision (or shared objectives).
  2. Generate and Sustain Trust.

Please read the steps again and try to check if any of the leaders previously mentioned pass the test. I’m sure you’ll find that all of them totally pass the test. Let’s check the two components of the recipe and see how can we become great leaders.

Spreading The Vision

As the first step is as fundamental as water and sun for living to happen. If you can’t deliver your vision, you are not leading. Leading is showing the way towards that known goal. Your first assignment is to present that destination as a [desirable] territory for all of your followers. That destination has to resonate in the group’s minds and souls.

Achieving Trust

  • Be competent, show you know what you’re doing.
  • Be congruent, do what you say and say what you do. Don’t let your actions speak something different from your words.
  • Be supportive, stay on the side of your team.
  • Be empathic, take care of your people.

It seems too easy but the recipe to become a real leader is not. Leadership has to do with your ability to lead, and that set of skills is one you need to develop.

Remember Leadership IS A WORLDWIDE NEED FOR THIS CENTURY.
