Team-Thinking in LMS Training
During LMS training, sometimes staff members are asked to work in teams to develop new ideas, produce reports, and take on different tasks to work towards organizational goals.
Most people have seen the corporate art poster which reads: “Teamwork: None of us is as smart as all of us.” Some of us have also been entertained by the similar poster which reads: “Teamwork: None of us is as dumb as all of us.”
Joking aside, which slogan is more accurate? Is teamwork a worthwhile activity in a training program–or in any educational context?
Studies reveal that when a clear structure and well-developed plan exist, team learning can be highly successful and efficient. When group activities are aided and recorded by an LMS training tool, the benefits of team learning outweigh any potential hazards.
Throughout their lives, all people cultivate their own unique talents and skills. Each person has a unique set of skills and talents to offer. Experienced leaders and teachers have always tapped into this fact.
Unfortunately, despite the popularity of teamwork in the professional world, oftentimes companies make only a weak effort to create strong and trusting teams.
Managers themselves are often unconvinced that a team effort is necessary, making it less likely that they will be able to guide and maintain effective and productive teams. But when created and maintained with faith in their functionality, strong teams can prompt a happy and energized staff. And, as we all know, a happy staff is a productive staff. The opposite can also happen–a negative team experience yields a tense, unhappy and unproductive staff.

We’ve all seen the corporate poster that reads “Teamwork” at the top, and at the bottom, the old Japanese proverb: “None of us is smart as all of us.” Some of us with a dryer sense of humor have also chuckled at posters with the same image of all the hands in the center, symbolizing group unity and respect, one on top of the other, which reads: “Teamwork: None of us is as dumb as all of us.”
Which slogan rings truer, humor aside? Are teams worth implementing in a training program?
Studies show that when a well-developed structure and a clear plan exist, training teams prove effective. When created and maintained by an LMS training tool or experienced trainer, the advantages of teams in training programs outweigh the negatives.
